Portogruaro is an elegant and liveable town, where visitors can discover the historic centre by bike, cycling the arcades of the Venetian, Romanesque and Gothic-style buildings, stopping at the shops and craft workshops.
The best time to visit Portogruaro by bike is on a Thursday, during the historic weekly market, and the second Saturday of the month, when an antiques market is held.
Cycling routes starting in Portogruaro
If in the past the Lemene River allowed goods to supply the districts of the city, today it is the protagonist of the routes along the GiraLemene Cycle Route.
The first is an itinerary that visits the ancient mills - Sant'Andrea, Boldara and Stalis - with stops at Villa Bombarda, the village of Cordovado and the fountain of Venchiaredo.
On the stretch towards the sea, cycle through history as far as Concordia Sagittaria, where a tour of the Roman remains in the centre is a must.
