Litoranea Veneta and the Casoni of Prati Nuovi

An itinerary rich in natural charm: already when heading along the cycle path leaving Bibione, it is possible to come across the spectacle of the pink flamingos that find shelter in the fishing valleys of Vallesina and Valgrande. The route continues along an asphalt road that flanks the Litoranea Veneta waterway and the lagoon habitat on one side and the fields and rice fields of the Third Basin on the other. The route then follows a dirt track that separates the mainland from the lagoon towards Prati Nuovi, where you can admire the typical fishermen’s huts or casoni (which can only be visited externally). A stop here is a must, to enjoy the lagoon spectacle of moorhens and herons in flight, with waterways bordered by salt marshes and reeds, used in the past by fishermen to build the roofs of their huts.
